The outrageous images of war portrayed by the media make one wonder about the absurdity of the world in which we live. Even more surreal is the fact that many young boys are socialised to play with plastic toy soldiers and play make-believe war games -- as if this is the normal state of things and a part of the “right” way to teach them how to be boys, and later, men.

Conflict toys

The soldiers I have created are inspired by the shocking front page media images displayed the day after a terror attack.

Each one of these figurines is a replica of a conflict icon normally seen in the newspapers the day after a terror attack.

This project reflects what I have to say about conflicts/kids/education, and what’s in between. Please don’t take it too seriously.
